॥ शरणं भव हे गुरुदत्त! ॥

शरणं भव हे गुरुदत्त! तरणं भव मे प्रभुदत्त! (पल्लवी)

O Guru Datta! Become My asylum. O Prabhu Datta! Become My cross-boat in this worldly ocean.

परमचरमपद-वितरणपदयुग! विधिहरिहरमुखपद्म! ।
शरणं भव हे गुरुदत्त! तरणं भव मे प्रभुदत्त! ।।1।।

Your two feet bless us with the absolute and ultimate goal. You have the three lotus faces of Brahmā, Viṣṇu and Śiva.

श्रुतिविवरणचण! करुणकिरणरस! सदभिमतविवाद!
शरणं भव हे गुरुदत्त! तरणं भव मे प्रभुदत्त! ।।2।।

You are the expert in revealing the meaning of the Vedas. You are always interested in radiating the rays of kindness. You always like the truth for the sake of which only You argue.

करकमलकलित-जनिधृतिलयबल! सुविलसदनघेश! ।
शरणं भव हे गुरुदत्त! तरणं भव मे प्रभुदत्त! ।।3।।

Your six lotus hands contain the symbols of Your strength of creation, maintenance and destruction of the world. You are the husband of the universal mother called ‘Anaghā’.
