[Shri Yash asked: Pada Namaskaram, I reflected on how I want to save money for God but often find it difficult to do so. My forefathers used to save money in paise, while my father saved in rupees. I want to continue this tradition of saving money and redirecting it for divine purposes. However, I find it challenging. For example, when I eat outside, I sometimes end up spending ₹500-₹1000, whereas breakfast outside costs around ₹50. If I made it at home, it would be much cheaper. In previous generations, they didn’t have utensils for making items like idli and dosa. But now, preparing these breakfasts at home has become easy. At times, I also tend to give money to others, like for household cleaning or other needs, which reduces my ability to save. Then I think to myself: What if I save this money instead? For example, ₹50 for breakfast or ₹100 for household work. Every rupee saved counts. Even saving ₹1 and redirecting it to a "Datta bank" is better than not saving anything at all. Could you please guide me on how to save money effectively and how I can balance these aspects better?]
Swami replied:- Your anxiety to save money for the sake of God itself is appreciable. Even if you don’t save for God, home-made food is far better than outside food for your health even though home-made food is having lesser taste. A prostitute glitters much than a housewife!
