26. Please explain about that ultimate aim of life.

[Śrī Surya asked:- But, Swami, we have to really keep the aim of life as God. Can You explain about the aim of life?]

Swami replied:- A true devotee thinks “My aim of life is to serve God only, but not to serve the world. I am maintaining my body only to serve God. I am not maintaining my body for my self-pleasure to enjoy the worldly pleasures. My aim of life is only to please God by practical service and sacrifice”. For such true devotee, God takes his/her personal and family expenses into His account and declares that the devotee has done 100% sacrifice to Him. Do not mistake that all your unnecessary expenses of smoking and drinking, etc., will come under the account of God just because you serve God. Only your needful expenses are taken by God and not your unnecessary luxurious expenses. For example, you need to buy groceries to cook food and maintain your body. You need to pay rent for a house to stay. You have to marry to attain some peace of mind since your spouse can share your household duties to give you some time to focus on God and take care of you when you are ill. When your parents or spouse takes care of your children and take care of each other, you get some peace of mind to serve God. In your old age, your children will be there to serve you. You not only need a healthy body, but also the mental peace for serving God, which is the ultimate aim of life. Therefore, you must maintain your family to maintain yourself with good health and peace of mind. All these needful expenses come under divine expenses only and not worldly expenses because your ultimate aim is to serve God.

The intention (sankalpa) is very important and that intention alone decides the fruit, but not the inert action. Doing a job is an inert action and earning money is an inert action. The aim of earning money and the aim of spending money decides the fruit. When all your needful personal expenses are directed to God, you have done 100% sacrifice to God in the eyes of God. When there is no personal aim to your life except to serve God, there is no personal account for you and your needful expenses will fall in the account of God. But, you should be very sincere in your intention. If you create drama, then God will start playing a reverse game with you and your address will not be found in this creation! Always be sincere, truthful and innocent before God without showing your intelligence. Every human body has millions of nerves. Even if some ill intention or thought is present in some nerve, you may not be knowing it consciously that but God knows it. So, never attempt to play with God. This is the best path for an average person to reach God. Understand that everybody cannot become an exceptional devotee like Sudaama or Saktuprastha. You can donate to God after all your family expenses are over. Instead of spending the leftover money for luxuries, you donate it to God. I told in My book the Datta Vedam, “I am not asking the one rupee that you spend for yourself and your family needs. I am not asking the one rupee, which you are saving for your old age. I am only asking your one rupee, which you are spending on luxuries and getting your health spoiled. Instead of losing health and wealth in luxuries, you donate that extra wealth to Me. This not only prevents your loss, but also protects you here on earth and there after death”.

Don’t think that God is giving you the good health here because you yourself are avoiding ill health by controlling your luxuries. Protecting health is very important because health is the real wealth. What is the use of wealth when there is no health? Moreover, you attain practical benefits from God for your practical sacrifice. This is called as ‘Salvation from waste’. When I was doing My PhD, there was a famous CSIR project called ‘Wealth from waste’. Here, we are getting salvation from waste by avoiding wasteful luxurious expenses and diverting it to God. ‘Wealth from waste’ is a Pravritti project and I extended it to Nivritti as ‘Salvation from waste’. This is a very easy and beneficial method for all humanity.

Swami

27. Swami, investing with God is the best investment. Isn’t it?

[A question by Śrī Ajay]

Swami replied:- The word ‘investment’ means that you are sacrificing to God under business devotion. Investment means aspiring more returns when you are in need. While investment is done, the word ‘sacrifice’ shall not be used. Investment is completely selfish. When you invest with a company, the company will do business with your investment and earns more profit. Out of that profit earned, some part is given to you because you invested the capital. If the company gets loss, it will give a share of loss to the investor also in the case of mutual funds. If the company gives some interest to you irrespective of its profit, it is the policy of loan. All these are various ways of business devotion, which is not true love on God. Whatever you sacrifice, it must be done without any aspiration for any type of return. This comes under issue devotion or fan devotion, having truth in love. Prostitution devotion (showing theoretical devotion aspiring practical boons from God like a prostitute behaving with her customers) and business devotion shall not be followed in the case of God.

When this true love basis is established in the sacrifice, God will return interest on your amounts, which is as per the need and without any calculation. But, this point shall not be in the mind since the sacrifice must be without any aspiration for return. Your capital will remain permanently and every time the interest will be given to you as per your need. That is the procedure of ‘Datta Bank’ and the accounts are maintained by Kaalabhairava. But, all these details should not find a place in your brain. It is very difficult to balance these two contradicting concepts, which are i) The facilities and the working procedure of Datta Bank and ii) That in this Datta Bank, the allowed account holders are those climax devotees, who do not know any details of this bank and do practical devotion to God Datta without aspiring even a trace as returns from God Datta. If a devotee wants to become the climax devotee and wants to enter as account holder in this bank, he/she shall forget all the details of this bank. This means that sacrifice to God Datta shall not be done as long as these details of Datta Bank remain in the brain. It is a wonderful situation like rain in the bright sunlight!

28. The best tagline of Datta Bank would be ‘With you in this life and after life’. Isn’t it?

[Śrī Hrushikesh asked:- Swami, the best tagline of ‘Datta Bank’ would be “zindagi ke saath bhi zindagi ke baad bhi”. Isn’t it?]

Swami replied:- Yes, it is true. But, such idea shall not be in your mind even for a fraction of a second. Your sacrifice must be based on your personality attraction towards God only and not with any trace of aspiration of selfishness, expecting no returns at any time. Of course, God is with us in every birth. God is with us in this birth and all future births after death as in your tagline (zindagi ke saath bhi, zindagi ke baad bhi). You must first recognize and develop faith in the contemporary human incarnation of God without which everything is useless. Moreover, God Datta does not need anything from anybody. This entire creation is His wealth only and He can create any amount of wealth just by His will. I have stressed on the topic of Karma Yoga (practical devotion), which includes Karma Phala Tyaaga (practical sacrifice of wealth) and Karma Samnyaasa (practical service) because these are written in the Bhagavad Gita (Dhyānāt karma-phala-tyāga, styāgā chhānti ranantaram, Yastu karma-phala-tyāgī sa tyāgī tyabhidhīyate). The same concept exists in the Veda also (Dhanena tyāgenaike amṛtattatva-mānaśuḥ). The Veda, the Gita and other scriptures also contain the stories of true devotees like Sudaama and Saktuprastha, who followed the concept practically in real life. I have not invented these concepts by Myself and I am only defending the scriptures here. Of course, I have redefined few concepts like Gayatri, Yajna and study of the Veda, etc., giving true meaning to them.

In the Veda, the word ‘Dhana Tyaaga’ is mentioned and in the Gita, the word ‘Karma Phala Tyaaga’ is mentioned. The word ‘Dhana’ means wealth, be it hard-earned wealth or ancestral wealth. Since you didn’t earn it, you don’t know the value of the ancestral wealth. But, the word ‘Karma Phala’ means only hard-earned wealth. God Krishna told in the Gita that donating hard-earned wealth to God is the real sacrifice because you are more attached to your hard-earned money than your ancestral money. Here, God competes with the item with which you are most attached.

God sees whether you vote for that item or for Him and that is called as ‘Datta Pariikshaa’. God says that after doing Karma Phala Tyaaga or total sacrifice of hard-earned money, there is no effort leftover on your side and there is full stop (Dhyānāt karma-phala-tyāga, styāgācchhānti ranantaram). The first step is Jnaana Yoga like knowing the details of Mumbai city. Then, you develop anxiety and attraction towards Mumbai city to see that Mumbai city. Developing this theoretical inspiration is the second step or Bhakti Yoga. Then, comes the final third step or Karma Yoga, involving both Karma Samnyaasa Yoga (sacrifice of energy like walking upto the railway station) and Karma Phala Tyaaga Yoga (sacrifice of hard-earned wealth like purchasing the ticket for Mumbai City). After Karma Yoga, there is no effort left. After sitting in the train, what more effort do you have to put to see Mumbai city? This is clearly written in the Gita and I am just explaining it. The author of the Gita is God Krishna and My name is Venu Gopala Krishna Murthy. Our names are same and hence, I must defend My name! Therefore, I am only presenting the concepts written in the Veda and the Gita. I am not creating a new concept on My own.

29. Why should we follow justice when the injustice diverted to God is becoming sacred?

[Śrī Satti Reddy asked:- Swami, You told that whatever is diverted to God becomes sacred. Then, why should we follow justice?]

Swami replied:- There is a poem (padya) in Potana Bhagavatam (Kāmotkaṇṭhata gopikal, bhayamunaṃ kaṃsuṇḍu), which says that Kamsa reached God through fear and Gopikas reached God through illegal lust. Even when a thorn (bad qualities) falls into fire (God), it also becomes sacred ash.

[You are the fire, Swami.]

Swami replied:- You always take Me as God and this is the problem with you! When we are discussing the logic of a spiritual concept, don’t drag Me into it personally. Let us focus on the wonderful concept here. Krishna is God and there cannot be any injustice in His side. There is no lust for God since He is unimaginable and beyond all qualities. Gopikas are the sages for millions of births doing penance for God. Even when heavenly dancers like Rambha, Urvasi and Menaka came and danced to disturb their penance, the sages cursed them and the dancers ran away. They burnt their lust in penance. Now, when there is no lust either on the side of God or on the side of Gopikas, why did Gopikas approach God through lust? To understand this, we should first know what lust is. Lust is an action and action is inert. Kissing, hugging, etc., are inert actions only. What is the intention in Gopikas? Intention is not hormonal provoked lust seeing the beautiful form of God Krishna to enjoy Him. Gopika’s intention is devotion to Krishna since Krishna is God. They kissed and hugged God Krishna out of devotion and not out of hormonal provoked lust. Even a father hugs and kisses his daughter out of love. A mother kisses and hugs her son and a brother kisses his sister with love.

In the Ramayana, Kausalya hugged and kissed God Rama when He returned back from the forest. This hugging and kissing are inert actions, but the intention behind the actions bring the fruit. Parental love and brotherly love, etc., are legitimate and doesn’t bring any sin. Suppose the same hugging and kissing are forcibly done to a girl by a rowdy in the street, it is sin since the intention is hormonal lust. But, the actions are inert in all cases. The rowdy gets punishment in hell and in court also. But, other cases are different since their intentions are different. Hence, the inert action has no result and the intention behind the action alone gives the fruit. Sage Narada explained in his Bhakti Sutras that Gopikas hugged Krishna knowing that He is God and their intention is only pure devotion (Na tatrāpi māhatmya jñāna vismṛtyapavādaḥ). If that devotion is not there in the hearts of Gopikas, their actions will become sinful (Tadvihīnaṃ jārāṇāmiva) and both the Gopikas and Krishna will be punished in hell. Since Krishna is God, it is not a sin. But, this cannot be applied anywhere in Pravritti. Suppose an ordinary married lady hugs and kisses another ordinary human being with hormonal lust, both will go to hell. The punishment for illegal lust is that the sinner must hug a red-hot copper statue, which is in the form of that illegal lover.

30. Isn’t it Your grace that we recognized You as God?

[Swami, by the grace of You only we realised that You are God. Then, what is wrong in taking You as God at all times including spiritual discussions also?]

Swami replied:- Please don’t bring Me into this discussion. We are talking about spiritual knowledge here in front of many devotees. There are many people here and also many people attending the Satsanga live. Many of them came to our Satsanga for the first time. You may be thinking that I am God and that is your personal opinion about Me. It cannot be an opinion of the general audience, who are with us. If you and I alone are there, then you can talk as you like. But here, you have to respect the opinion of the public and then only talk. I told this to you in one of the previous Satsangas also. You asked Me “Why did You suppress King Bali when You came as Vaamana?”. I jokingly replied that if Kerala government comes to know about this, they will send police to arrest Me! In Kerala, they respect Bali very much and celebrate his name on Onam festival. You should have asked “Why did God suppress King Bali when He came as Vaamana?”. You should ask Me as a third person and not as the first person.

31. Should we consider justice after recognizing the contemporary human form of God?

[Swami, when God comes in human form, then, by the grace of God only I get to know that He is God. Then, should we consider justice after that?]

Swami replied:- Sometimes, what God does can appear as injustice to you because of your ignorance. But, whatever God does can never become injustice. Due to your lack of sharp analysis, it appears as injustice. I just now explained that actions are inert and intention alone brings the fruit. Even in the law of the world, the person, who plans the murder gets more punishment than the person, who does the murder. Even in the case of Smt. Indira Gandhi, the one who planned her murder was given more punishment than the two other people, who killed her. Since they don’t have the intention to kill her, they were given life imprisonment. The one, who intended to kill was hanged to death. Intention has higher value than action in the present law also.

[The intention or direction is very important. Isn’t it?]

Swami replied:- Yes, the intention is the most important for any action. Sage Vyaasa was asked to produce children with the wives of his brothers since all his brothers died. It was a royal dynasty and the kingdom must have heirs. So, his mother, Satyavati, ordered Sage Vysasa to do so. Just like the artificial insemination done in fertility labs, Sage Vyaasa helped to produce children. He did not get any sin because there is no bad intention in his mind. Vyaasa didn’t come forward by himself to produce children through his brother’s wives. He performed that inert action since his mother ordered him to do so. Intention is related to awareness and action is related to body. This inert mike-stand before Me cannot appreciate My knowledge and put a garland in My neck. You have awareness and hence, you appreciated My knowledge and put a garland on My neck. The intention or sankalpa alone decides the fruit and not the inert action or karma (Akarmaṇi ca karma yaḥ - Gita). Sometimes, even though karma (action) is done, it is akarma (inaction) and sometimes, even though karma is not done (akarma or inaction), it becomes karma (action). If you have committed a sin by mistake without any intention, it is not a sin. But if you are thinking about a wrong action mentally, you get the sin. Therefore, awareness is responsible for the fruit and not inert matter or inert energy.

32. Did Karna have good intention to help the bad Duryodhana?

[Ms. Thrylokya asked:- Swami, You are telling that intention alone gives the fruit. In the case of Karna helping Duryodhana, may be the intention of Karna is good only to help, but since Duryodhana is bad, sin occurred to Karna. Is it not?]

Swami replied:- Your one-rupee coin has fallen in the drainage and you picked it up. You washed it thoroughly and applied some scent on it. You are trying to do your best to remove the foul smell, but it’s all a waste. Karna is a demon and no matter how much you try to glorify him, it’s a waste. Karna is a rakshasa (demon) born through the womb of Kunti. He was living in the globe of Sun (Surya) and due to long association with the Sun god, he got the good quality of doing charity. Except that, rest of his qualities are purely demonic. That is why he joined with the Kauravas, who were also the incarnations of demons. Even after knowing that he was the son of Kunti and Pandavas were his real brothers, he did not like to join with the Pandavas. God Krishna tried His best to convince him and bring him to the side of justice saying that his real relationship exists with Kunti and the Pandavas. But, Karna said “I know that I am the son of Kunti, but I cannot leave Duryodhana”. That is his samskara since a demon likes to be in the association of demons only.

In fact, Karna was more demonic than Duryodhana. It is Karna, who advised Duryodhana to remove the sari of Draupadi in front of everyone in the royal court. This is clearly written in the Mahabhaaratam. Karna also provoked Duryodhana to invite Draupadi to sit on his lap. He knows that Pandavas are his real brothers related by blood and Draupadi is his close family member. But, he insulted her by saying “You are already married to five men. What is wrong in marrying Duryodhana as the 6th one? Go and sit in on his lap. Since you are defeated, you become our servant. We have the right to remove your clothes. It doesn’t matter you wear clothes or not”. Can any human being say such disgusting words to any woman? Can any human being do such horrible things to his own family? The only good quality Karna has is doing practical sacrifice (charity or daanam), which he got because he stayed in the globe of the Sun for a long time. Sun is the best donor since whenever he comes, he gives life energy to all living beings without aspiring anything in return. The quality of charity is highest in the Sun. Since Karna has got that one good quality, do you excuse all other demonic qualities and all other sinful deeds? Suppose somebody is a gold medalist and he also stole some money from a house. Should he be arrested or not? Since he is a gold medalist, do you excuse his theft? Karna cannot be excused and that is the judgement of God. Remember that God’s judgement is always correct.

33. What is the significance of the existence of humans?

[Śrī Achary asked:- In this gigantic universe, our planet earth is very minute. What is the significance of the existence of humans doing karma? Is there any profit or loss to the universe?]

Swami replied:- Angels need not be associated with God because they never err. Demons also need not be associated with God because they never change their demonic nature. Humans err and rectify. They need association with God and hence, God is often associated with humans. God finds a lot of work in the case of human beings, which gives Him a lot of entertainment. Earth may be a tiny planet in this universe. But, earth is the main active place or playground of God. Humans and the planet earth containing human beings is very important in the creation. What is the purpose of this creation? The Veda says that the purpose is entertainment of God (Ekākī na ramate). Earth provides such entertainment to a great extent to God. Therefore, you should not underestimate the planet earth because of its size in this infinite space.

34. If pain comes due to not getting the expected result in the service of God, how to overcome it?

[Dr. Geetha Lahari asked:- Paadanamaskaaram Swami. While discussing with Ms. Saatvika and Shri Kishore, we got one question, Swami. Sometimes in the service of God, even if we put our complete effort, we don’t get expected result and it causes a lot of pain. How to overcome it, Swami?]

Swami replied:- If you feel pained and upset even in the service of God, it means that there is a lot of ignorance in you. If you get such negative feelings even in the service of the omnipotent and omniscient God, then how sad you must be in worldly circumstances and family affairs? There may be fault in human being, but there cannot be any fault with God. You are a doctor working in a hospital, which is managed by ordinary human beings. Worldly management can go wrong and some injustice may happen. Perhaps, the deserving one may not get recognized or promoted. Perhaps, the undeserving may get bonus and hikes. This kind of injustice can possibly happen when ordinary people do management. But, you are telling directly that this kind of injustice is happening in God’s service. You are not getting recognition or expected appreciation in the service of God and hence, you are pained. This pain of yours and others is definitely based on ignorance only. In fact, your pain is meaningless and wrong. There can’t be darkness in the Sun and there can’t be darkness in the Sunlight. Similarly, there can’t be injustice in the divine administration of God. God cannot tolerate injustice even in this world, can He let injustice happen in His service? If you are pained in God’s service, it may be because you have caused pain to some good person, who was in God’s service in your previous birth. Actually, you have to get a lot of pain, but God is giving only little pain because you are doing service to Him. You make a rigid rule in your mind that you shouldn’t doubt God under any circumstances.

You also asked a question recently “God gave Brahmanas alone the spiritual knowledge, then is it not injustice done to other castes?”. We know that most of the state governments in our country assign duty to the Malaria department to propagate precautions against the disease to the entire public. Government also sends some books, literature and other material required for propagation. The people in the Malaria department will study the material and then only go to the public for propagating that knowledge about the Malaria disease, it’s cure and precautions, etc. Can you say that the Government has shown partiality to the Malaria department and has given all the knowledge only to that department? Can you say that injustice happened to all the public? People will laugh if you say like this! The people in the Malaria department are taking mikes and moving around in all streets and public places to propagate that knowledge only.

In fact, the public is benefitted by the department. What do you think Brahmanas do? They preach the spiritual knowledge to the public every day. They have not kept it as a secret in their house and getting benefits from it. If that was true, then your question becomes meaningful. From the beginning of the creation, Brahmanas are preaching the spiritual knowledge about God to the entire public (Jnaana Pracaara) and that is the duty given to them by God. In fact, all the other castes are benefitted by this. When some books and literature are provided to the Malaria department, they keep it with them for a day to study that entirely and then come into the streets for propagation to the public. You cannot ask them to share the knowledge with the public immediately at the same moment they receive the literature! But you say, “Yesterday night, you kept in your house only. What about my yesterday’s loss? Yesterday night itself you took the care in your house against malaria by reading the literature. But, I didn’t take care because today morning only you are explaining it to me”. What malaria department can do? They will just commit suicide listening to your statements!

Similarly, we should not misunderstand God’s administration. You take some time and understand the background properly. Especially in spiritual side, there will be no injustice at any moment. God first assigned the duty of propagation to Brahmanas and then gave the required literature to them to propagate to the public. They have not kept in their house and used only for their families because Jnaana Pracaara is the duty of the Brahmanas. Although everyone in the society knows the spiritual knowledge, only the people, who practice it will get the result. Even a Brahmana will get the result only if he practices it. The duty of protecting justice is given to Kshatriyas and they were involved in fighting wars against injustice. The duty to distribute all items (each item is produced at a different place) to all the areas is given to Vaishyas and they were involved in business activities. The duty of producing grains is given to the Shudras. All four duties are very important for a stable society. When all the four castes/professions are equal and noble, where is the question of difference? Somebody should be given a duty out of four duties and the probability is equal. Treating all as equal, God gave each duty to various souls. Then again, you will say, “Why God gave that particular duty to that particular soul only? Isn’t it injustice?”. Understand that the probability is equal and also random. God has to give that duty to somebody. Imagine yourself in the place of God and you cannot do any better. When a Shudra is producing grains by agriculture, is it not distributed to all the public? Is a Vaishya not helping in distributing the produced items to all the regions? When a Kshatriya is fighting war against injustice, is it not creating safety for all the public? Similarly, when a Brahmana studies the spiritual knowledge and propagates to the public, is it not benefiting all the people? You are not following the knowledge properly and you are blaming the administration of God!

The Malaria department is telling clearly to everybody, “Don’t put open water. If you put open water, the mosquitoes will breed. Always cover the open water”. Due to your laziness, you have not followed the instructions and you got malaria. Now, you started blaming the malaria department! Every caste is given a duty, which benefits all the public. Some people say that Shudra is born from the feet of God and hence, they are low. But, even the sacred River Ganga is also born from the feet of God and it is said that she removes all our sins. Even a Brahmana can’t do that since to remove the sin, he has to perform long worships. One dip in Ganga removes all sins since Ganga is born from the feet of God Vishnu. She also becomes the sister of Shudras. Suppose the feet are cut, will anybody be able to walk? Feet are as important as any other part of the body. Therefore, only difference exists among castes but there is no hierarchy among the four castes. All these misunderstandings are developed from the beginning of Kali age.

35. What is the difference between Datta Parikshaa, Vishnu Parikshaa and Rudra Parikshaa?

[A question by Śrī Anil Antony]

Swami replied:- Brahma Pariksha, Vishnu Parikshaa and Rudra Parikshaa are called as Datta Parikshas. Brahma Parikshaa means that God appears and you ask/expect for some boon from Him, He will not give the boon and He will just disappear. Then, will you still worship God? Out of 100, 90 will go away in Brahma Parikshaa and this is like the quarterly examination. Vishnu Parikshaa means that God appears and you ask/expect some 100 rupees from Him, He will not give the 100 rupees, but He will take the 10 rupees also present in your pocket and He will disappear. God is not giving but taking away your wealth also! Then, will you still love God? This is like the half-yearly examination. Rudra Parikshaa means that God will give you such difficulty that you will be insulted, beaten, wounded and all intolerable things happen to you. This is the final annual test. Then also, will you still love God? That is the Rudra Parikshaa.

When the Rudra Parikshaa is over, the result will be declared by God Datta, who is the controller of the examinations. If you pass Rudra Parikshaa also, then God Datta will appear and merge in you making you as the incarnation of God Datta to the rest of the world. God will never allow the souls to merge in Him and He Himself will merge with the exceptional devoted soul. Your name, your life and your identity are maintained and you will also get all the powers of God Datta. This is the highest grace you know! Instead of you disappearing and dissolving in Him by losing your own identity, God will dissolve in you and protect your identity. The entire credit goes to God Datta only, but, it finally comes to you only since you are visible and He is invisible. Becoming the incarnation of God Datta is the final fruit given by God Datta to you.

36. What is the message of Jesus being crucified along with two thieves?

[Jesus was crucified along with 2 thieves on either side. Any message in that being crucified with 2 thieves?]

Swami replied:- When Jesus was crucified, He never gave any statement hurting anybody. He never begged those people to show kindness on His life. He said, “Oh God! They don’t know what they are doing. Please excuse them”. That is the level of Jesus. The level of those two thieves is not that. If you take the statement of the two thieves, they are completely different from the statements of Jesus. One thief tried to bribe Jesus requesting to remember him after going to the upper worlds. He said to Jesus, “When you sit on the lap of the Father, please remember me”. He may be treated as a worldly devotee aspiring for some aspiration from God and the other thief is worldly man only without thinking about God. In this incident, Jesus is showing the difference between the human incarnation and ordinary people. The behavior shown by Jesus proves that He is the Human Incarnation. One thief is a devotee and the other is an ordinary soul.

37. God is the Husband of all living beings!

[Shri Phani garlanded Swami with a flower garland. Swami joked whether Phani is marrying Swami as wife. Shri Phani told “Swami, You are the Husband of all living beings!”

Śrī Phani told:- You are the Husband and I am the wife, Swami.]

Swami replied:- I already told that concept. It is told in the Veda that the so-called males in the world are not only females, but are also the wives of God (Striyaḥ satīḥ puṃsaḥ…). Husband means Bhartā, who maintains all the souls (Bibharti iti bhartā…). God is maintaining all the souls along with the world. Wife means Bhāryā, who is maintained by the Bhartā (Bhriyate iti bhāryā…). This is not in other sense (sexual sense) but in this sense:- You have to take that a male is not only female, but also the wife of God. This means that the soul is maintained (Bhāryā) by God, the maintainer (Bhartā). The male ego should be left and the male ego shouldn’t be shown on the wife. The male ego disappears when every male soul feels that all souls are females (Prakruti) only and God alone is male (Purusha). When Ramakrishna Paramahamsa went to Brundaavanam for one month, He was wearing a sari and putting jewels like Gopika throughout His stay! All souls shouldn’t have any trace of ego before God and that is the meaning of this statement. You are misusing that here.

[I am using correctly only, Swami. You are Sarvabhartā!]

Swami replied:- Even if you use that statement, the sense is not the sexual relationship of husband and wife resulting in the sense of homosexuality! That is not the sense here. See, this electronic instrument is on the table. This table is Bhartā and that instrument is Bhāryā. This table is maintaining that instrument. Maintainer is Bhartā and the maintained item is Bhāryā. Bhāryā means that maintained instrument. In that sense, all souls, even the so-called males are females and wives of God. That means even the males are maintained by God only. They are not maintaining themselves. All the entire creation is maintained by God. Then, males are also included in the creation and become wives (maintained souls) of God, the husband (maintainer). Males are told as females for the sake of removing the male ego from them. Males are also told as wives of God-husband in the sense that every male soul is maintained (Bhāryā) by the maintainer, God (Bhartā). You should take the meaning in these specified ways only and not otherwise.

38. Anjaneya Swami also got pained in the service of God. Does this come under ignorance only?

[Śrī Kishore asked:- Swami, You told that if we are pained while in God’s service, then it is our ignorance. But, Anjaneya Swami also suffered the pain and thought to commit suicide when Mother Sita was not found by Him in Lanka?]

Swami replied:- Anjaneya Swami did not get any suicidal thoughts while in service of God Rama. He wanted to show to human beings that there are chances of getting suicidal thoughts in God’s service. He acted in that role and that is due to ignorance, which was shown by Him in the role of the soul because the soul only gets ignorance. If you get the pain, will the problem get solved? That is purely ignorance. If the problem is solved by us with patience, then it is knowledge. God Hanuman is acting in the role of servant-soul in the divine service of God. He acted in the above scene as a soul to give lesson to other souls. The lesson is that difficulties and misunderstandings come in the service of God, but one should not break down with discouragement like suicidal thoughts. The soul may get discouragement from other souls and this is quite natural. But, the servant soul shall think that God is most important and not the souls. If the soul gets discouragement from God, it is completely the ignorance of the soul and misunderstanding the God. Hence, both these probabilities must be dealt in the corresponding ways as explained by Me.
