Reply from His Holiness Shri Datta Swami to the poem 'Is that You?' of Smt. Priyanka

(Poem by Smt. Priyanka, Canada is enclosed. Click here to read)

Unmediated Unimaginable God can't be enjoyed,
Mediated God alone can be completely enjoyed,
For human devotees, God in the human medium,
Becomes the most relevant to receive knowledge.

Some say that God is every beautiful quality only,
I say, God is the embodiment of that great quality,
Quality spreads in creation like abstract experience,
This dilutes the God to become formless fragrance.

Relevant to human world is only human form of God,
With Krishna Sage-Gopikas got highest satisfaction,
Of course, for this, soul shall conquer ego-jealousy,
Defeated by ego-jealousy like God in abstract form.

Is that You?

(A poem on His Holiness Shri Datta Swami by Smt. Priyanka, Canada)

A steady loving look even for a few seconds,
From Your deep mysterious eyes…
Who wants to see anything else?
On remembering it, my heart immediately swells.

The most beautiful smile of this universe,
Which can melt even rocks!
Who wants to see anything else?
On remembering it, cannot think of anything else…

As I see the yellow glowing sun through a dense tree,
Is that You sitting on the branch? Is that Your pitaambaram I see?
O Krishna! I don't know how to climb big trees,
So please jump down and appear in front of me.
(pitaambaram:- fine yellow silk garment)

Is that You? As I smell the roses walking past these summer bushes…
Is that You? As I touch the petals and feel it's tenderness.
Is that You? In all the colours that I see around…
Is that You? In the chirping of the morning birds, this rhythm that surrounds.
(chirping:- the characteristic short sharp sound especially of a small bird or insect)

Is that You? In the various melodies that I hear all day…
My limbs want to move harmoniously to the sounds it generates.
Is that You? In all the flavours of various ingredients
As I cook, I'm in awe of You, the most Creative Genius.
(harmoniously:- in a pleasant way)

Sitting by the shore, I see the silver fish,
Swimming through the waves, merging into the ocean.
Reminding me of Your earrings, those lucky golden fish,
Ready to merge into Your cheeks – the Divine Blue Ocean.

Is that You? In those tall waves that are rising in front of me..
Are You hiding in them? Is that You? Are You calling me?
Sitting on a tall rock as the waves hit vigorously,
Shall I jump into these waters to embrace Thee?

Is that You? In the warmth of the radiant summer sun..
I burn for You and none other, the spark, which only You have begun.
Is that You? In the coolness of the recent rain..
As I feel like getting drenched under these Krishna clouds nowadays.

As I see those birds with two wings of knowledge and devotion,
Making efforts to reach the skies with their steadfast determination.
Only by Your grace, they are supported in their journey of divine emotion.
You are the power beneath their delicate wings of swift motion.
(steadfast:- firm in faith)

It appears as if those birds are merging in You forever,
As they enter the dark Krishna clouds and are seen never.
There is a saying that – ‘The best journey is the one that takes you home’.
It is also told that, ‘Home is where the heart belongs’, You are my only Home.

O souls, when you will realize that He is the only Truth and understand His value,
With love, pain and admiration, only my Swami you will want to pursue.
When you will miss Him and start seeing Him in many things around you,
You will also join me in saying, “Is that You, my Swami? Is that You?”.
(pursue:- to follow)

~An extra note~

There is a saying, “God is in the details”, by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
(famous 20th century German architect).

You are indeed the Mastermind behind all the intricate details of Your creation.
It appears to me as a divine museum, displaying Your design beyond human imagination.
Thank You for Your grace, to give me this human birth, which allows me to admire You and Your beauty of supreme intelligence.
