O Learned and Devoted Servants of God
1. I request You to give the essence of the following verse.
[Paadanamaskaaram Swami, few verses from Quran and Hadith are given below. I request You to give the essence of these verses. At Your Divine Lotus Feet-anil.
1. And [they] said, ‘Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah. But they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him for certain. But Allah raised him up to Himself. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise’. (Surah An-Nisa, 4:156-157)]
Swami replied:- For the sake of those, who are unable to bear the pain about crucifixion of Jesus, all these ways were created by senior devotees.
2. I request You to give the essence of the following verse.
[2. "Certainly, they have disbelieved who say, 'Indeed, Allah is the Messiah, the son of Mary.' Say, 'Then who could prevent [anything] from Allah if He had desired to destroy the Messiah, the son of Mary, or his mother, or everyone on the earth? And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and everything between them. He creates what He wills. And Allah is over all things competent.” (Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:17)]
Swami replied:- This is the praise of unimaginable God.
3. I request You to give the essence of the following verse.
[3. "O you who have believed, do not enter the houses of the Prophet except when permission is given to you for a meal, without awaiting its readiness. But when you are invited, then enter; and when you have eaten, disperse without seeking to remain for conversation. Indeed, that behavior annoys the Prophet, and he is shy of [asking] you to leave, but Allah is not shy of the truth. And when you ask [his wives] for something, ask them from behind a partition. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts. And it is not for you to harm the Messenger of Allah or to marry his wives after him, ever. Indeed, that would be in the sight of Allah an enormity." (Surah Al-Ahzab, 33:53)]
Swami replied:- Devotees are warned against any type of damage to the contemporary human incarnation.
4. I request You to give the essence of the following verse.
[4. You ˹O Prophet˺ could not read any writing ˹even˺ before this ˹revelation˺, nor could you write at all. Otherwise, the people of falsehood would have been suspicious. (Surah Al-Ankabut 29:48)]
Swami replied:- The exact sense of a divine statement can be revealed only by the prophet or the contemporary human incarnation of God. Otherwise, the false people create false interpretations and they themselves become suspicious of such interpretations.
5. I request You to give the essence of the following verse.
[5. "O Prophet, indeed We have made lawful to you your wives to whom you have given their due compensation, and those whom your right hand possesses out of what Allah has given you [as captives of war], and the daughters of your paternal uncles and the daughters of your paternal aunts and the daughters of your maternal uncles and the daughters of your maternal aunts who migrated with you, and a believing woman who gives herself to the Prophet if the Prophet wishes to marry her, [this is] only for you, excluding the other believers. We certainly know what We have decreed upon them concerning their wives and those whom their right hands possess, [in order] that there will be no difficulty upon you. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful." (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:50)]
Swami replied:- This means the very special treatment of the Prophet as the contemporary human incarnation of God by very faithful devotees. Generally, normal devotees do not give such unimaginable special status to the human form of God due to jealousy rising caused by mutual repulsion between common human media.
6. I request You to give the essence of the following verse.
[6. Say, 'I am not the first messenger ever sent, nor do I know what will happen to me or to you. I only follow what is revealed to me. And I am only sent with a clear warning.'" (Surah Al-Ahqaf, 46:9)]
Swami replied:- This is the expression of human form of God to majority of devotees, who recognize some divinity in the Prophet. The Prophet talks in very ordinary level so that the jealousy of ordinary devotees gets pacified.
7. I request You to give the essence of the following verse.
[7. "O believers! Do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet, nor speak loudly to him as you do to one another, or your deeds will become void while you are unaware." "Indeed, those who lower their voices in the presence of Allah’s Messenger are the ones whose hearts Allah has refined for righteousness. They will have forgiveness and a great reward." (Surah Al-Hujurat 49:2-3)]
Swami replied:- This is a warning given to jealous devotees so that they will patiently hear the preaching of the Prophet and try to understand the true spiritual knowledge.
8. I request You to give the essence of the following verse.
[8. "Indeed, ˹It is˺ We ˹Who˺ sent this ˹Quran˺ down on the Night of Glory." "And what will make you realize what the Night of Glory is?" "The Night of Glory is better than a thousand months." (Surah Al-Qadr 97:1-3)]
Swami replied:- This is appreciation of the divine scripture so that every human being of any specific religion will read the holy scripture through proper interpretations to get the true spiritual knowledge of God.
9. I request You to give the essence of the following verse.
[9. "Whatever verse We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring a better one or one similar to it. Do you not know that Allah is over all things competent?" (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:106)]
Swami replied:- This means that if some areas of knowledge are not covered, one can imagine them with the help of sharp analysis and with the help of other divine scriptures existing in this world.
10. I request You to give the essence of the following verse.
[10. "It is He who has sent down to you the Book; in it are verses that are clear – they are the foundation of the Book – and others unspecific. As for those in whose hearts is deviation, they will follow that of it which is unspecific, seeking discord and seeking an interpretation suitable to them. But no one knows its interpretation except Allah." (Surah Al-Imran, 3:7)]
Swami replied:- When a divine statement is interpreted, the suitability of its application to devotees of a specific area and a specific time period is very important. Sometimes, such interpretation may not be the actual interpretation of God, but, God has permitted the deviation for the sake of spiritual progress of a specific quantum of devotees. The Prophet knows the original interpretation and any deviation done by Him is approved by God since the propagation of spiritual knowledge is done by God existing in the Prophet.
11. I request You to give the essence of the following verse.
[11. Whoever attends a funeral and prays over it, then he will have a qiraat (reward) and whoever remains there until the person is buried will have two qiraat. It was said to him, “What are two qiraat“? He replied, “They are like two great mountains.” (Sahih Muslim, Book 4, Hadith 2091)]
Swami replied:- The funeral of a dead person is a very good place to understand the non-eternality of this world. Spiritual scholars spend more time in attending the funeral so that they get double the spiritual knowledge.
12. I request You to give the essence of the following verse.
[12. The Prophet said: I have been permitted to tell about one of Allah’s angels who bears the throne that the distance between the lobe of his ear and his shoulder is a journey of seven hundred years. (Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith 347)]
Swami replied:- The ear represents the spiritual knowledge heard from the Prophet. The shoulder represents the actual action or the practice of the right sense of the heard spiritual knowledge. Even in the case of very famous preachers, the distance between learnt spiritual knowledge and practiced spiritual knowledge is very long. Such preachers sit on the throne as leaders of spiritual knowledge, who are not really eligible to preach others without practice.
13. I request You to give the essence of the following verse.
[13. The people asked: Messenger of Allah! Shall we see our lord, the Exalted, on the Day of resurrection? He replied : Do you feel any trouble in seeing the sun at noon when it is not in the cloud? They said: No. He asked : Do you feel any trouble in seeing the moon on the night when it is full and not in the cloud? They replied: No. He said: By Him in whose hand my soul is, you will not feel any trouble in seeing Him except as much as you feel in seeing any of them. (Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith 348)]
Swami replied:- This means that the ultimate unimaginable God can be seen through contemporary human incarnation as sun in the noon and moon in the night in absence of clouds. Any soul will see at least one human incarnation in one of its births. The recognition and maintenance of that recognition is the real problem.
14. I request You to give the essence of the following verse.
[14. The Prophet said, "Allah will not accept the excuse of any person whose instant of death is delayed till he is sixty years of age." (Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith 348)]
Swami replied:- A human being living upto sixty years of age is given full longevity by the grace of God. In this life period, such human being should serve and sacrifice the contemporary human incarnation of God. If such a soul is immersed in its personal family matters only till 60 years of age, it will not be excused by God.
15. I request You to give the essence of the following verse.
[15. "Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, 'Whoever takes a path to seek knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise. And the angels lower their wings for the seeker of knowledge, out of pleasure for what he does. And all creatures in the heavens and on earth, even the fish in the water, ask forgiveness for the scholar. The superiority of the scholar over the worshiper is like the superiority of the moon over all the stars.'" (Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 3, Hadith 6419)]
Swami replied:- Here, the importance of spiritual knowledge is very much stressed than devotion. Excess of devotion will spoil the health and brings madness. Devotion is emotion that is uncontrolled due to lack of complete spiritual knowledge. Spiritual knowledge is like the torch light to keep the traveller in the right path avoiding all side deviations.
16. I request You to give the essence of the following verse.
[16. "Yawning is from the devil. So, if one of you yawns, let him try to suppress it as much as possible. If he says 'Ha' (when yawning), the devil laughs." (Sahih Muslim, Book 2, Hadith 548)]
Swami replied:- This describes the stage of laziness without any spiritual activity. This is a stage of ignorant and emotional devils. The devils become happy on seeing such a lazy fellow.
17. I request You to give the essence of the following verse.
[17. "Trim the mustache and leave the beard. Differ from the Magians." (Sahih Muslim, Book 2, Hadith 500)]
Swami replied:- Mustache represents ego and beard represents the holy nature of a saint. Trimming mustache is pacifying the ego with spiritual thoughts. You must differ from the ancient people by having this internal knowledge.
18. I request You to give the essence of the following verse.
[18. "This world is a prison for the believer and a paradise for the disbeliever." (Sahih Muslim, Book 36, Hadith 6606)]
Swami replied:- A devotee following the path of justice in this world feels this world as a prison due to very much restricted discipline in every action. Finally, such devotee enjoys the heaven and then goes to the abode of God by concentrating his vision on God. For a non-devotee, who follows injustice without caring for God, this world is a paradise since he does all sins and finally suffers in hell.
