If the original God really has spatial dimensions, then how can it mean that the space is in God?

[Smt. Chhanda asked: My most beloved Swami! Paadanamaskaram to You! Please throw Your light on the following ignorance of mine. I have tried to understand the wonderful discourse on 'FOUNDATION OF SPIRITUAL KNOWLEDGE' for which the link is https://www.universal-spirituality.org/discourses/foundation-of-spiritual-knowledge--599--1281--ENG . In this discourse, I could not understand one point logically. Please enlighten me on that:

In the sentence "If the original God has spatial dimensions, it means, the space is in God. It means, you have not achieved the boundary of space.", the important point is 'If the original God has spatial dimensions', which is an assumption and further analysis is based on this assumption. Am I correct Swami? Here, I am not able to understand if the original God really has spatial dimensions, then how can it mean that the space is in God. Will it not be the opposite? And also, how will it mean that we have not achieved the boundary of space if God has spatial dimension? What is the reason for it, Swami? You have made it very clear that space was not existing earlier before its creation and it is infinite too. So, we will never be able to achieve the boundary of the space. This is very clear and of course true.]

Swami replied:- When I said that if the space is in God, it does not mean that some vacant space is existing in God. Any item having volume means that it has spatial dimensions because the product of the three spatial dimensions is volume. Since spatial dimensions belong to space, the spatial dimensions of any item are considered to be the dimensions of space that is involved in the formation of that item. In every item, the five elements are involved. Such procedure is called as panciikaranam in Indian logic. The space (Bhuutaakaasha) seen by us in this creation is said to be formed by the combination of 50% pure space and 50% other four elements combined. We can understand this point even by scientific logic. Since the same spatial coordinates exist in any item, we can easily infer that the item is formed by the involvement of space only. If the item has spatial coordinates, it means that such item contains space that was involved in the formation of such item. ‘The item contains space’ means that the item was having involvement of space in its formation.

Regarding infinity, space is infinite from the angle of the soul. But, from the angle of God, space is finite. You quoted a sentence from My knowledge, which is “it means, space is in God. It means, you have not achieved the boundary of space”. I am presenting actual statements from My knowledge below:-

Foundation of Spiritual Knowledge

The original God, having no spatial dimensions, is beyond space. If you want to see such original God, you have to cross space. In doing so, you have to reach the boundary of space. Unless you cross the boundary of Andhra Pradesh, you cannot enter Tamilnadu. If you reach the boundary of Andhra Pradesh, you can see Tamilnadu from there. Similarly, if you reach the boundary of space, you can see the original God starting from that boundary. But, space is infinite and hence, its boundary can never be achieved. If the original God has spatial dimensions, it means, space is in God. It means, you have not achieved the boundary of space.

Your intelligence can never cross spatial dimensions and can never go beyond space. This means, your intelligence can never imagine the original God. Intelligence is the highest faculty having the power of imagination after thorough analysis. Any amount of logical analysis of intelligence fails to imagine the original God. The Veda says this (Na medhayā…, Naiṣā tarkeṇa…). There is no need of saying that lower faculties like mind, life etc., fail to imagine the original God. Life has a very dormant power of thinking. Mind has the power of thinking but cannot analyse anything. The Veda says that God generated space. If God has spatial dimensions, it means that God has space. In such case, space exists in God even before its generation. This contradicts the statement that God generated space. The mud generated the pot. The pot is not in the mud before its generation. This is the starting point or foundation of spiritual knowledge.

The explanation of the sentence quoted by you is:- Unless you cross the boundary of space, you can’t enter God, who is beyond space. God must be beyond space because then only, God can generate space. The mud is beyond the pot, which means that the pot doesn’t exist in the mud. If the pot existed in the mud already, it means that the pot is not generated by the mud. Generation means the process of a product coming out from its cause and the product shall not exist in the cause before its coming out (generation). If the product exists in its cause already before coming out, it is only the process of expression of the product that already existed in the cause and such process cannot be called generation. Generation of space by God is not like the so-called generation of a baby already existing in the womb of a mother. Here, the mother herself is not generating the baby without the father. The mother can be considered as half cause only and not the full cause. When space is generated from God, God is the full cause. In the lump of mud, there is no pot already existing.

Swami

If space is in God, you cannot cross the boundary of space to see God. If you cross the boundary of Andhra Pradesh, you can see Tamilnadu. If Andhra Pradesh is also existing in Tamilnadu, you can never cross the boundary of Andhra Pradesh to see Tamilnadu. If Andhra Pradesh is not existing in Tamilnadu, then only you can cross the boundary of Andhra Pradesh to see Tamilnadu. God is beyond space and because of this point only God is unimaginable. If space is in God (it means that if God has spatial dimensions), God has volume so that God becomes imaginable like any item of the creation. The Veda says through several statements that God is unimaginable. Since God is different from space and since space is not in God, it will be logically correct to say that God generated space. In such situation only you can cross the boundary of space and see God. But, space is always infinite from your angle and you can never cross space. Therefore, you can never see or even imagine God. Unless you cross space (boundary of space), you can never imagine the absolute God, the generator of space.

Q. Is God the ultimate cause of the universe, while inert energy, matter and awareness fail due to their respective defects?

[Swami, can I say that by using the scientific analysis of Einstein’s general theory of relativity, You are establishing the existence of God as the only alternative option? Because, in the search of knowing the ultimate cause of the universe, inert energy, matter, awareness fails to become the ultimate cause due to their respective defects. So, we have no other option and hence, God is remaining as the only alternative option to us. What is Your opinion?]

Swami replied:- You are exactly correct.
