(Poem of Lord Shri Krishna)
Ashtama Dalam—Eighth Leaf
31) Jaarashchora itiiritopi Bhagavaanasmaabhiraalokyate,
Saakshaat Brahma hi tena Dattacharamajnaanaarkachakshussphutam,
Bhuubhaaraprashamaarthamaagatamabhijnaatum sa necchatyapi,
Tatkaarunyavashaadvayam bhavamahaavaaraashimuttaaritaah.
[With the help of the sun like third knowledge-eye given by God Krishna only, we are clearly seeing Him as the ultimate God or Parabrahman, even though some say that He is the thief of butter and dancer with Gopikaas. Even though the Lord doesn’t like Him to be identified by the devotees since His important purpose of coming down is to relieve this earth from sinners, we are able to cross this ocean of worldly bonds by His special grace only that was showered on us.]
32) Vilaasashatasundaram natanakotichuudaamanim,
Savibhramapadakramam chalakiriitapinchhaanchalam,
Svapannapi pibanshchalanmadhurahaasa masmast purah,
Kamapyamita komalam kamalanetra maalokaye,
[While sleeping, drinking and moving, I am seeing some inexplicable tender lotus eyed Lord, who is beautiful with hundred styles, who is the top most gem in acting in one crore roles at a time and who is very smart in putting steps while walking.]
33) Asmaakam vasatirbhavatvapi payoraasheshcha paare pare,
Janmorvyaamatha tena kim? Samamidam panchaiva bhuutaani hi,
Samsaaraarnavamadhyaguptanagariihruddvaarakaayaam sadaa,
Chandobandhana dolikaasu chalitah pinchaavatamso yadi.
[If the peacock feathered Lord is always moving to and fro in these cradle like verses bound in meters in our heart-dvaarakaa city, which is not dipped in the ocean of the worldly bonds like an Island, what is the difference if our living place is in a foreign country beyond the sea or in our mother land? Everywhere, the same five elements (space, air, fire, water and earth) only exist.]
34) Udyatkaaliyamardanocchalashironiilaamshumatpakshakam,
Gopiipiinapayodharekshanasamullasasphurannartanam,
Aalolam bhuvi dhaartaraashtradamane Brundaavanaadaahrutam,
Dhatte niilamayuraraajamaparam kriidaavanam me manah.
[My mind-garden is possessing the king of peacocks, which is brought from Brundaavana garden. This peacock is having bright blue feather on its head, which is vibrating while dancing on the rising Kaaliyaa serpent (peacock defeats the serpent by dancing over it and Krishna also danced on the Kaaliyaa serpent). This peacock also dances with joy on seeing robust breasts of Gopikaas (piina payodhara means robust breast as well as strong cloud and peacock dances on seeing clouds in the sky). This peacock (Krishna) is interested in suppressing the Dhaartaraashtras or sons of Dhrutaraashtra (Dhaartaraashtras mean sons of Dhrutaraashtra as well as serpents and the peacock is bitter enemy of serpents). Here, Lord Krishna and peacock are compared.]
35) Sauvarnaabharanairalankruta tanuh sandhyaamshubhirvidyutaa,
Muktaahaarachalattvishaa rasamayo jaatah kila shraavane,
Barhaakhandala chaapakhandashirasaa Brundaavanapraanadah,
Kashchit niilavalaahako mayi dayaasaaram chiram varshatu.
[Let one inexplicable blue cloud (Lord Krishna) rain His cold grace-water on me forever. This Krishna is having several golden jewels and a garland of pearls on His body and the cloud is also having several twilight flashes along with the white lightning. Both Krishna and cloud are born in the month of Shravana or rainy season. Both are full of rasa (Rasa means water as well as interest like romance, kindness etc.,). Both give life to the Brundaavana garden (cloud gives life to garden by rain). The cloud is having rainbow on its head whereas Krishna is having the peacock feather on His head.]
36) Pinchhaavishkrutashekharaaya tulasiihaaraaya piitaambara-
Vyaanaddhaaya kateradhah karatale paariplavadvenave,
Saayankaala vanaantaraagata gavaam paschaatkrutaaya vrajaih,
Vaamaalokana vamalochanakrutaspandaaya te vandanam.
[My salutation to the young Krishna, who is decorated with bright peacock feather on the head, who is having garland of tulasi leaflets, who is wearing gold coloured silk cloth below the waist and who is rotating the flute in His hand. Such Krishna is walking with the cows coming to village in the evening. Such Krishna is left back by the cows not because His tender feet are unable to walk, but, because He was twinkling His left eye towards the beautiful cowherd maidens on the way, which made His walk delayed!]
37) Paadakshepa jhalatjhalat dhvanirayairaanandamaatanvate,
Muktaamekhalayaa vishishtakalayaa chakshussmaakarshate,
Aaliptaaya payobhirantimagruhadvaaraat bahirdhaavate,
Kasmaichinmahase namaamsi mahate baalaaya niilaaya te.
[Our salutations to some inexplicable great divine blue radiation in the form of a boy running from the back door of the house with milk streams flowing down from mouth all over the body, who is extending the bliss by running while the tiny bells of anklets are generating jhalatjhalat sounds with speed and who is predominantly attracting our eyes by the garland of pearls shining specially on the body.]
38) Tsyechhaa yadi shatrureva paramam mitram sakrujjaayate,
Mitramsyaadatha shatrureva sahasaa sangah kutastajjanaih?
Naalam vaa bhuvanastha jangama mano yantraani yasyecchayaa,
Chaalyante yadi chintitassa Bhagavaan Naraayanah kevalam?
[O fool! Why are you wasting your valuable time in gossiping with people to make them as your friends? If God wishes, even your bitter enemy will become your best friend to help you and even your best friend will become your worst enemy to harm you. Is it not sufficient to think Lord Narayana alone, by whose will all these movable mind-machines in this world are working?]
39) Ekenaiva kilaakramena gaganam yasyaavrutam cha kshitih,
Paataala pratipaadito baliradhah kshipto mahaadanavah,
Yaddhuuliprasarena gautamasatii ninye shilaa svasthitim,
Shriipaadam tava chintayaami satatam Shrishankhachakraanchitam.
[By one encroach, both sky and earth are pervaded by each foot and by one down push, the great demon Bali is sent down to the lower world called as Paataala, by the dust of which, Ahalya is brought back to human form from the state of stone, on which both the conch shell (Shankha) and wheel (chakra) are seen, such glorious foot of Yourself is always remembered by me.]
40) Paapadhvaantaniraasadiidhitimataam gangaambhasaam kaaranam,
Brahmaastraahata paandavaankurashishoh sparshena jiivapradam,
Gopiichanchalanuupuradhvanikaram spandena Brundaavane,
Vande shriicharanaaravindamarunam shriipaaninaa laalitam.
[I salute the lotus foot of the Lord, which is lightly pressed by the divine hand of Goddess Lakshmi, which is the birth place of the white water of Ganga river having the shines that reject the sin-darkness, which gives life just by touch to the seed-sprout of Pandava dynasty that was horribly smashed by the arrow of God Brahma, which by movement in Brundaavana garden creates dance in the feet of Gopikaas with sounding anklets.]
41) Muktaahaarakulaakulairavayavaissvarnaambaro varnito,
Madhyasthaapitavenunaa cha makute maayuurapinchhena cha,
Vyatyastena padadvayena hasati shriiRukminiiBhaamayoh,
Amsaalambita baahuraatmani vahan praanapriyaam Raadhikaam.
[Lord Krishna is standing with crossed legs having smile on face holding both Shri Rukmini and Shri Satyabhaama by His two hands pressing over their hands on both sides, but, is possessing Raadhikaa in His heart, who is loved by Him more than His life!]
42) Niilo nrutyati Krishna esha Yamunaatoyam cha niilam sadaa,
Prajnaanam ghanaramyakaanti sagunam tannirgunan Brahma hi,
Naktamnakta mapuurayanstanughataanaadyena Brundaavaane,
Jiivaakaasha ghataantaraanyahraho gopyah parenottamaah.
[The blue Krishna having form (sagunam) is blue cloud light and the blue Yamuna river is formless (nirgunam) blue light and both are dancing always. (Ghanaramyakaanti means both:- great beautiful light and beautiful cloud light since ghana means both great and cloud.) These top most devotees called as Gopikaas filled their body pots with the first light (Krishna, the God with form) in every night in Brundaavana garden and their pots representing the spaces of their souls with the second light (water of Yamuna river representing formless God) on everyday.]
43) Svaamiinnimaani na cha kim tulasiidalaani,
Saugandhavat saguna nirguna paavanaani?
Shri Krishna Bhaagavata daama mayaa tulasyaa,
Baddham Hare! Priya! gale tava chaarpayaami.
[O Lord! Are these verses not the Tulasii leaflets having pleasant scent and holiness representing Your form and formless aspects respectively? O Hari! my darling ! I am submitting around Your neck this garland of Tulasii leaflets named as Shri Krishna Bhaagavatam.]
44) Kathamchit bahujanmaante, mayaa Bhaagavatam krutam,
Shri Krishna parirambhaantar-vijrumbhita sudhaarasam.
[Somehow, after so many births, the Bhaagavatam is composed by me, which is the divine nectar that overflew by jumps due to the embracement of Shri Krishna (in the early morning of one Janmaashtami festival and this book was completed by me in one day).]
