(Poem of Lord Shri Krishna)
Trutiya Dalam – Third Leaf
1)Gangaambhasah paapaharasya hetuh, samsaaravaardhestaranaikasetuh,
Anvishyate gopabhavaabhinetuh, tasyaiva paadah purushottamasya.
[I am searching only for the foot of Lord Purushottama (Krishna, the greatest among the souls), God acting as cowherd, which is the source of Ganga river that takes away the sins, which is the only bridge to cross this worldly ocean.]
2)Bhitirnaama cha keedrusheetyaviditah paartho bhayotkampito,
Yasyaalokya hi vishvaruupamarunakrodhajvaladdeedhiti,
Bhaamaayaassa kilaiva gotrakalushe kinchit samaavishkrutaat,
Bhruubhangaadadaroshthakampanakulaat Daamodaro vepate!
[On seeing whose cosmic vision shining with red flashes of furious flames, even Arjuna, who doesn’t know what the word ‘fear’ means, started shivering with lot of fear, such Lord is now shivering on seeing a little curved eye-brows associated with the vibration of lips of Satyabhaama on becoming furious for His mistake in taking the name of other lady!]
3) Ekaanghrisamsthitashareerabharaistapobhih,
Yam praapnuvanti na Yugairapi yogivaryaah,
Jaanudvayena sa purogamanah patishnuh,
Baalaayate bhuvananaatakasuutradhaarah!
[The great sages standing on one leg on which alone the weight of the entire body is sustained, are doing penance for ages together and are unable to see the Lord. Such Lord, who is the main role of this worldly drama, in the role of a child, is moving on the floor with the help of knees!]
4) Dandaagrabhinnapithareepayasaa cha trupto,
Gachhan bahirvrajavadhuunigruheetachorah,
Aalingya taamadharachumbanamohitaayaam,
Ksheeraamkadattakalushaadubhayaarthasiddhah!
[Krishna entered the house of a Gopika and made a hole in the bottom of the pot containing milk hanged above and pacified His hunger. Then, He is coming out form the house and is caught by the Gopika. Immediately, He embraced her and kissed her lips. The Gopika closed her eyes with bliss and Krishna ran away. While kissing, the milk present on His lips was marked on her lips so that she became the thief of milk before her family members. By this play, not only Krishna gave her bliss, but also the proof of theft! By one deed, He attained two uses!]
5)Kechinmahaasheshashayasya bhaktaah, saktaah pare chandrakalaavatamse,
Yam praapya Shambhaavapi paarthapushpam, Chakree Shivashchetasi nassa eva.
[Some devotees are fond of Lord Vishnu, who is lying on the bed of Lord of serpents. Some devotees are fond of Lord Shiva, who is decorated by the curve of moon on head. Arjuna worshipped Krishna (Lord Vishnu) with specific flowers and found the same flowers on Lord Shiva when he was taken by Lord Krishna to the abode of Lord Shiva. Such single Lord, who is both Krishna and Shiva alone, is in our mind.]
6)Satyam mano! vada samastadigantaraala-bambhramyamaana! hrudaye nihitah karoyam,
Pinchaavatamsamuraleekaravaarijaakshaat, anyat kimasti nanu sundarashabdagamyam?
[Oh mind! You are wandering without any rest in all sides of this world! I am keeping My hand on My heart. Speak the truth. Is there any other item as the meaning of the word ‘beauty’ except Lord Krishna, who is having bright peacock feather on head, sweet flute in hands and eyes like lotus flowers?]
7)Karnaantaayatameenaruupakamalacchaayaakshileelaavalee,
Yaamyaamaavrunute vilaasakalanaa Krishnasya Brundaavane,
Saa saa mohadrushaa vivartitatanustatraiva yatrasthitaa,
Samraktaavayavaa papaata harinee baddheva viddheshunaa.
[The eyes of Krishna are long up to ears and smart like fish shining like lotus flowers having various styles of looks. When such looks rounded whomsoever Gopikaa in the Brundaavana forest, such Gopikaa was twisted in her body with looks having fascination to Krishna stood there itself and fell on the ground with limbs covered by love to Krishna like a deer bound, falling on the ground with limbs covered by blood after beaten by arrow (‘samrakta’ means extensive love and also extensive blood).]
8) Samvrutyashakyavipulacchadapallavaabhyaam,
Eeshatkashaayahrudayangamasundaraabhyaam,
Krishnasya mugdhakamalopama lochanaabhyaam,
Kaa na skhaledapi tapashcharamaah pumaamsah?
[Which lady in this world doesn’t slip by seeing the beautiful lotus like eyes of Lord Krishna, which are big and the tender leaflet like eyelids are unable to cover them and which are having light red colour piercing any heart? Even the greatest sages doing penance for millions of births born as Gopikaas have slipped! Even these sages as males in the previous birth slipped by seeing the beautiful eyes of this Lord in the previous incarnation!]
9) Rupam Krishnasya ramyeshu, tatraapi nayanadvayam,
Iti paandava dutesmin, samlapopi kurustriyaam.
[As Krishna is walking in the court of Kauravaas, who went as mediator, the ladies of Kauravaas standing in the corridor of the first floor are speaking like this “among the beautiful items, Krishna is specially beautiful. In His beautiful body also, the eyes are more specially beautiful!”]
10)Uddhrutya Govardhanamaashu nilam, nakhaanchalenaiva kanishthikaayaah,
Sa neelabaalah sputitordhvakonaat, niryatkaracchaaya iveandraneelah.
[The black boy on lifting the black Govardhana hill by the edge of the nail of last finger is looking like a blue diamond surrounded by a heap of blue light standing above generated by a beam of its rays escaping from its upper angle of corner!]
11)Bhumervruntaavalambam vigalita yamunaakeshapaashotpalam vaa!
Kaalindee gamtukaamaa pitrugruhagaganam langhanodyatpadaa vaa!
Paadenaikena Govardhana iha tapasaa pakshakaamah sthito ve--!
Tyaakhyaanam khecharaanaam vrajashishuvidhrute parvate shruuyate sma.
[When the black cowherd boy lifted the black Govardhana hill, various assumptions of angels in the sky are heard in the following way — is this the blue lotus flower standing on its stem jumping from blue river Yamuna, which is the unlocked long hair-block of earth! Is this the foot of blue Yamuna river lifted up in order to go her native home by jump (sun globe) existing in the sky! Is this the Govardhana hill standing on single foot doing penance to gain his lost wings (Indra is said to have cut the wings of hills)!]
12) Amrutodayakaaryaante, dharaavarshajalaarnavaat,
Vishnunaa praaptarupena, prokshipta iva mandarah.
[The Govardhana hill is looking like Mandara hill lifted by God Vishnu in the form of tortoise during churning of ocean. Since the divine nectar is generated, God Vishnu came back to His original form (Lord Krishna) leaving the tortoise form still lifting the hill standing in the ocean. The ground place looks like ocean due to continuous rains for seven days.]
13)Mohena maatsaryadhiyaa rushaaham, kaamena lobhena madena baddhah,
Tathaapi mayyeva dayaavataste, kim kaaraanam? Krishna! vada prabho! Me.
[Oh Lord Krishna! tell Me the reason for Your kindness to be shown on Me alone, who is bound by fascination, jealousy, anger, lust, greediness and pride.]
14)Madhuraadhipavenunissvanaih, madhuraih pallavitaadharaamrutaih,
Avruteh parashabdagardabha—kshatibheetaa mama karnavallaree!
[My ear-creeper is happy to generate tender leaflets by the sounds of the flute becoming sweet due to association of the divine nectar of the lips of Lord Madhusuudana (Krishna). But, it is fearing for other donkey-sounds that may injure it since it is always in open state!]
15)Mrutyuh kadaa bhavati vaa jarasi smrutirme, kacchit bhavediti na vedmi tatodhunaiva,
Naaraayanaaya nalineedalalochanaaya, naarangavarnavasanaaya namasshataani.
[I don’t know when the death falls on Me and I also don’t know that whether I will retain the memory power in My old age or not. Hence, now itself, hundreds of My salutations are put for the Lord Naraayana (Krishna), who is having eyes like lotus petals and who wears silk cloth having the yellow colour of ripened orange.]
16)Ayam katham nu sphuradindraneelatah, pravaalamuktaaphalakaantimishramah?
Iti kshanam vyaakulitaa muhurvayam, madhusmitesmin Madhusuudane sthite.
[How this mixture of radiations of white pearls and red rubies is coming out of this blue diamond? Like this, we are amazed for a minute again and again whenever Lord Madhsuudana (Krishna) stands before us with sweet smile. (Krishna is like the blue diamond emitting blue light. How a mixture of white and red radiations comes from the blue Lord standing with sweet smile! (Blue Krishna is like blue diamond emitting white light from His teeth-pearls mixed with red light of His lips.)]
17)Samsaara eva hi vinashyati tasya saakshaat—kaarena kopi na katham mama paapaleshah?
Paapena punyamapi chaastamitam samam me, dhvastaa divaa tamasaa saha chandrikaa cha.
[By getting the vision of Lord Krishna, the entire worldly bonds are destroyed and not to speak of My trace of sin! Along with the sin, My good deeds done are also disappearing. On the arrival of the day, not only the darkness of night, but also, the moon light is destroyed!]
18)He Krishna! vrushnikulasaagarapuurnachandra!
He Gopa! Paapakulaparvatavajrapaata!
He Naatha! Saadhuparirakshanabaddhadeeksha!
Traanaaya kinchidavadhaaraya me dayaalo!
[O Krishna! the full moon born in the ocean like race of cowherds! O Cowherd! the strike of diamond weapon in making the sin hills to fall down! O husband! firm in protecting the good people! O Kind Lord! Have a little time to think about My protection.]
19)Vallavyaah kusumaayudhodayamanahkallolitaayaah kshanam,
Kinchit kunchitavaamalochanakrutam sanketamaalambase.
Nirdhuutasmaranirvikaaratapasaam srushtyaadibaddhaaya cha,
Bhruumadhyasthiraveekshanaaya yatinaam dattam tvayaa nottaram!
[From the beginning of the creation, sages are doing severe penance without any break after throwing away the cupid (lust) and concentrating single look in the centre of their eye-brows. For such penance, You have not given any reply so far! But, when the Gopika beaten by the flower arrows of cupid, disturbed in her mind gives You the indication by her eye-beat (twinkling one eye), You are immediately understanding it and responding to it! (Lord responds to the love of devotee even in impure path and doesn’t respond to mere concentration even in pure path.)]
20)Kaalakarmashabaradvayaashane, shadgunagrathitajaalapaatitam,
Maamiha dvijasutaprada! dvijam, paahi Krishna! bhavabeejakarshitam.
[Two hunters called as time (kaala) and deed (karma) have thrown the nets made of six vices (gunas, which mean both vices and strings used to prepare net) in this world. I am a dvija (dvija means both Brahmin and bird), who is very much attracted by the worldly seeds (beejaas, which mean seeds and sources of worldly issues) thrown on the ground. You have already protected Your preacher, sage Saandipani, who is also a dvija or Brahmin, by returning his dead son.]
21)Neelaanaam mahasaam raashih, kopi Gopeemanoharah,
Vilaasaanaam samaahaarah, sarvadaasmat purassarah.
[A heap of light of blue diamonds is always walking before us, which is the thief of the hearts of Gopikas and which is the group of all beautiful styles.]
22)Rudrah shuulam vinaapi pralayamukhashikhaavishvaruupena saakshaat,
Taatah kaamasya vaamaahrudayadalane pushpachaapam vinaapi,
Karnaashvatthaamashatrudvayakalahakrutau taatataatah surarsheh,
Paanau veenaam vinaapi vyavahruti samaye ko na ko naayamaatte?
[Lord Krishna is Lord Rudra without trishuula weapon in hand in the context of His cosmic vision exhibited with the flashes of the horrible fire evolved in final dissolution. He is the Father of cupid (in fact God Vishnu is the Father of cupid) in the context of splitting the hearts of beautiful ladies even though the bow made of flowers is not in His hand. In creating quarrel between Karna and Ashvaatthaama (both are rivals of Pandavaas), He is the grandfather of sage Narada (in fact God Vishnu is the grandfather of Naradaa, who always generates quarrels between people) even though the Veena (a musical instrument) does not exist in His hand. Whenever the context is required, this Krishna does not become who and who?]
23)Kamalalochana! Kinchidavekshyataam, ayamapi pranayee tava tattvah,
Vrujinakrishnakalashcha visheshato, bhava savarnadhiyaapyabhimaanavaan.
[O lotus-eyed Lord! Look at Me also a little. This fellow (Myself) is also Your lover in depth. Additionally, this fellow is also black in colour obtained by doing sins and hence, is similar to You. Based on this, be graceful to this fellow also.]
24)Barham kamalanetrasya, gamanotkampi kasyachit,
Manoharati me nityam, baddham makutakotishu.
[The peacock feather of one hero having lotus like eyes, which is bound on the edges of His crown and which vibrates while He walks, is always stealing My heart.]
25)Pativrataanaamapi vallaveenaam, shayyaagataanaam vyabhichaarahetuh,
Mohaavahasyaapi mahaamuneenaam, tasyaiva venudhvanirenurekah!
[Gopikas are very chaste ladies, who were the great sacred sages practicing ethical scriptures for millions of previous births. While they are sleeping on the beds with their husbands, a little sweet sound of the flute of Krishna caused fascination to Him in their hearts violating even their ethics!]
26)Jhalatjhalatjhalajhalaravakinkinikaabhih koyam gopashishuh?
Ekapadaakraantabhuveeva sa na samagrapadadvayaviskhalanah!
[Who is this child of cowherds trying to walk on the ground by generating Jhalatjhalatjhalajhala sounds from the tiny bells of His anklets? He is unable to place His both feet on this small ground since He occupied the entire earth previously by His one foot and this must be the reason for His inability to put both feet on this little ground! (God Vishnu in Vaamana incarnation occupied the entire earth by one foot.)]
27)Dinaante godhulistimitachalamuktaaphalasarah,
Samaavruttah shailaat pathi ghatavateergopayuvateeh,
Sahaasam vaamaakshisphurana kitavavyangyavachanaih,
Vivruttaangeestanvan vilasati sa Gopaalarasikah!
[In the evening, Krishna is returning from the Govardhana hill along with the cows and the shining of His vibrating pearl-garlands became mild due to the dust raised by cows in their walk. On the way, He is coming across with young Gopikas and on seeing them, this cowherd, who is well versed in the taste of love is smiling and twinkling one eye, by which, they are twisted in their bodies!]
28)Vihaayaartham dharmaarjitamapi sateerdharmavidhinaa,
Gruheetaa vartante tapasi yatayo baddhamanasah,
Paradravyaksheeraapaharanachane yaadavasuhrut—
Vadhuusheelakreede vikasati rahasyam kimiha vah?
[The sages after withdrawing their hearts from the worldly affairs left their earnings earned through ethical ways, left their wives duly married in ethical way and are concentrating on this Krishna. But, what this Krishna is doing! Do you know? This Krishna is stealing the milk and butter of other houses and is playing with the character of the daughter-in-laws of gentlemen belonging to the same Yaadava dynasty! Are you finding the secret in this unfortunate episode? (The secret is that Krishna is the God for whom these Gopikas did lot of penance as sages in their previous millions of births. In this final birth, they are tested by the God for their detachment to the strongest worldly bonds called as Eshanaas, which are bonds with money, issues and life-partners. By stealing the milk and butter to be given to their issues, the bonds for wealth and issues are tested. By dancing with Gopikaas, their bonds with their life partners are tested. Here, detachment from worldly bonds must be due to attachment to God. Hence, detachment from worldly bonds measured is expected to give the measurement of attachment to God. Mere detachment from worldly bonds without attachment to God is of no use.)]
29)Srushtibhaavaparamaatmabhaavayoh, sharvareedivasayorivaanvayam,
Indraneelamanideepamujjvalam, kaantimantamavalokayaamahe.
[The concept of God and world are contradicting each other like day and night. This Krishna is a bright light of black diamond. The bright light is day and the black diamond is the night. Both are correlated when a bright black diamond is used as light! (In the case of unimaginable God, even contradicting concepts get correlated due to His omnipotence.)]
30)Gopaalakaaya Garudopari gocharaaya,
Karnaantanetrakamaladyutikomalaaya,
Paapakshayaaya bhavapaashavipaatanaaya,
Premaarnavaaya natayah purushottamaaya.
[My salutations are for that cowherd seen on the back of Garuda-bird, who is having lotus like eyes extending up to ears, who is capable of destroying all sins, who is competent to cut the bond with these worldly affairs, who is the ocean of love and who is the hero of all men heroes.]
31)Naaraayanaaya Yamunaaraasakelirasapaaraayanaaya karunaa—
Dhaaraadharaaya hrudayaaraadhitaaya navachoraayitaaya manasaam,
Heeraavaleekanakahaaraarchitaavayavaniraajitaaya vibudhaih,
Keeraayitaaya mama te Raadhikaa hrudaya kaaraagruhaaya natayah.
[My salutations to Narayana, who is fond of raasakeli (dance with Gopikaas) played on the banks of Yamuna river, who is the raining cloud of kindness, who can be worshipped by heart only, who is a special thief in stealing the minds, whose limbs of body decorated by golden garlands with diamonds are worshipped by the scholars by moving lit camphor light circularly and who is the parrot arrested in the heart-cage of Raadha.]
32)Utkshiptadakshinakaroddhrutatodanaadim,
Vaamena rashmi nichayam viniyamya lolam,
Bheeshmaabhitaamranayanaarthavadambujaaksham,
Tam paarthasaarathimaham pranamaami nityam.
[I am always saluting to Krishna, the driver of chariot of Arjuna (Paarthasaarathi), who is holding the cane in lifted position by right hand, who is holding the moving control-belts of horses in the left hand and who is having red eyes due to anger on Bhishma making His name kamalalochana (Lord having eyes like red lotus flowers) meaningful.]
33)Aashaadeepah kashchidasmaabhiruurdhvam,
Samsaarograkshaamataptaishchiraaya,
Tejoraashistoyadaanaam navaanaam,
Aanandaaya prekshyate Krishana Krishnah.
[We are suffering with the hot summer drought like worldly tension from a long time. Somehow, finally, we have seen the light of our ambition that appeared above us and which is the shining crowd of new black clouds called as Krishna that gives us immense happiness.]
34)Vyaloki mrudbhakshanashankayaa shishoh,
Yashodayaa vyaattamukhe samudgatah,
Ajeerna chauryaartha ivaasya kukshitah,
Khagolaraashirnavaneeta sanchayah!
[Mother Yashoda became furious on the report that Krishna was eating clay and shouted against Krishna to open His mouth for verification of her doubt. She saw bright white shining stars and planets in the mouth of Krishna. These looked like the particles of white butter, which came out from the stomach due to the indigestion of stolen wealth!]
35)Prabhaate paatalah kinchit, vallaveekuchakumkumaih,
Tamaala pallavah koyam, shete Brundaavane chyutah?
[Who is this person lying in Brundaavana forest with body that is slightly red due to the stuck red kumkumaa powder of the breasts of Gopikaas, looking like the tender light red leaflet of black tamaala tree fallen on the ground?]
36)Ayam nu muraleenaado, naathasya nuravidvishah,
Gopa Gopeegavaamanga, maavartayati nartitam!
[Is this the song of flute of Lord Muraari (Krishna), which is making the bodies of cowherds, Gopikas and cows get twisted in the dance!]
